Building on over 25 years of leadership and consulting experience, Dana brings a unique approach to the importance of people as the key to success in any organization.
Dana W. Scannell, Ph.D. serves as a strategic advisor, coach, and counselor as President of Scannell & Wight, an international consulting and education firm.
He possesses a strong talent in understanding individuals and teams, along with a keen insight in seeing the potential of people and gaining their confidence and trust. His passion is to help people find, develop, and maximize their strengths and talents, with a proven ability to convey complex ideas in clear, simple ways. Described as affirming, encouraging, and insightful, he blends a deep understanding of people with a depth of knowledge about organizations and the human dynamics involved in those organizations. Dana strives to provoke thinking and provide insights to uncover potential and maximize the performance of individuals and teams.
Dana gained his experience in various senior management positions with The Oliver Wight Companies, an international consulting and education firm. He directed the human resources, operations, and customer service groups, and went on to become the executive responsible for developing and managing their publishing operations and corporate marketing efforts. In addition to his consulting practice, he is Chairman Emeritus of The Oliver Wight Companies, Inc. Dana has a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in Organizational Psychology and the Development of Human Potential from the University of Southern California, and earned an M.A. in Psychology from Pepperdine University along with a B.S. in Business Administration majoring in Communications from Babson College. He also holds an Advanced Counseling Certificate from The Allender Center at the Seattle School of Theology & Psychology.
Dana is a Birkman Authorized Trainer and Master Certified Professional, and a Certified Talent Consultant and Strategist. In addition to his work with Birkman, he is certified in a number of other tools to help people understand their style, validate their thinking, and improve their interactions with others.
Dana is an Instructor and Executive Coach at UCLA Anderson School of Management. He collaborates with a number of other professionals to bring their experience and expertise to projects, and is member of a global consortium of manufacturing and enterprise planning consultants.
In addition to serving his clients, he also fulfills his passion to serve others as Chairman of the Board of Children’s Hunger Fund and as a Ministry Licensed Elder and “Pastor to the Pastors” at Mariners Church.
